Paul Hainsworth and David Kershaw claimed the Lions Novelty Doubles title on Monday night.  The annual tournament pairs high-ranked with lower-ranked players to produce some evenly matched partnerships.

Hainsworth and Kershaw gelled well together to produce some strong performances in topping their group.  They followed this up with a 3-1 win over Tina Pipet and Craig Dunning in the quarter final before coming through in 5 games against Dan Collenette and Derek Cave in the semi final.  On the other half of the draw, brothers Corey and Caden Brouard were remarkably drawn together for the second successive doubles tournament.  The young pairing reached the final relatively untroubled, despite being tested by Pipet and Dunning in the group stage in a high quality encounter.

Despite some excellent rallies and winning shots from all four players, including a superb round-the-net retrieval from Caden Brouard,  Hainsworth and Kershaw were too strong in the final and came through 11-6. 11-8, 11-5.
