A highly competitive series of matches produced clear frontrunners, tight three-game battles, and several momentum-shifting encounters across the band 1 rounds.
Micah Cohen emerged as one of the dominant players across the band, recording multiple straight-set victories. closely contested matchup. The only setback came against Xavier Ingrouille in a later three-game encounter, highlighting a strong overall campaign. Albie Lihou finished in 2nd place, claiming 5 wins losing narrowly to Cohen and 5th place Xavier Ingrouille. The results in Band 1 reflect a well-balanced field with several players capable of challenging at the top band along with 3 notable top juniors missing from the event.

In Band 2 there were strong signs of development, growing confidence, and improving match awareness among our young players. Match results showed tighter games, improved consistency, and an increased ability to close out matches. Judah Nwako took the title and showed excellent progress across the rounds winning all his match 2 -0. With Morgan Finn taking second place, Morgan demonstrated strong improvement, particularly in longer and more competitive matches. Notable wins against Louis Ma (in a tight three-game match). Morgan’s results suggest better consistency and confidence when under pressure.

The band 3 round robin provided an excellent competitive environment and, for many players, their first opportunity to experience match play within a banded format. With, players demonstrating strong commitment, and noticeable improvement as the round progressed. Jack Dorey made a confident start to the banded series, recording straight-games victories over 5 players dropping 1 set to newcomer and eventual 2nd place finisher Solomon Bearder.

Band 4 These matches mark a very encouraging start for our new table tennis players, all of whom are still early in their playing journey. The results show strong effort, improving consistency, and a growing understanding of match play. There were several competitive games, including matches that went to three or more games, highlighting developing rallies and confidence across the group. Players showed great determination and sportsmanship, with clear signs of improvement from match to match.
The eventual winner of Band 4 was Jack James with Liam Wallen taking second place.

To recognise these qualities, Female Player of the Day, Male Player of the Day, and Young Umpire of the Day awards were presented. These awards reflected not just on performance, but also showing good sportsmanship and a strong understanding of the game.

For many participants, it marked a strong and promising introduction to banded tournament play, setting a solid foundation for future events. Throughout the tournament, matches were played in an excellent spirit, with several going to deciding games and many players experiencing the tactical and mental challenges unique to banded competition for the first time. The standard of play was encouraging, rallies were competitive, and players adapted well to the format as the event progressed, setting the stage for an exciting next phase on 14th March.
