Division 1
Champions Lions A defeated their C side 3-2 this week during the penultimate fixtures of the Division 1 campaign. Garry Dodd picked up 2 singles wins over Paul Hainsworth and Liam Robilliard. Josh Butler came through a hard fought 7 game encounter with Robilliard to make sure of the points. Hainsworth picked up a consolation straight game win over Butler.
Lions B now hold 4th position following a 5-0 whitewash over Ravenscroft Panthers B. Phil Ogier beat Matt Stubbington in straight games and Jez Powell overcame the Panthers player in 6 games. Lions claimed the remaining 3 matches by walkover.
Whistlers B are in 5th and they ran out 5-0 winners over Ravenscroft Panthers A this week. Joshua (pictured) and Lawrence Stacey both defeated reserves Sam Clark and Ben Foote in singles and doubles action.
Whistlers A occupy 6th spot and were 4-1 winners over Lions D. Mark Pipet led the way with a 6 game win over James Rabey and a straight game win over reserve David Davies. Phil Hunkin defeated Davies in straight games, however he let a 3-1 lead slip during a 7 game defeat to Rabey, 13-11 in the decider. Pipet and Hunkin won the doubles in straight games.
Division 2
Whistlers E are the division 2 champions and they were emphatic 9-1 winners this week over their F side. Kay Chivers and Ben Foss finished the evening unbeaten after each picked up wins over Ian Fitchet, Sam Kershaw and reserve Len Bretel. Keith Opie added wins over Kershaw and Bretel, but fell in straight games to Fitchet. Chivers and Opie won the doubles encounter over Kershaw and Fitchet in 4 games.
Division 3
St Pauls B have retained their division 3 crown and did it in style with a whitewash of Lions K. Derek Carter, John Wills and reserve Bob Cherry each won their singles matches over Jan Priest, Graham Mallett and Naomi Priest. Carter and Wills won the doubles over Mallett and Jan in straight games.
Division 4
In the only division yet to be decided, Lions L hold a single point lead over Whistlers L with 2 fixtures remaining. They pinched a crucial 6-4 win over Whistlers K this week. Val Guilbert was instrumental for the victorious side as she won all 3 of her singles matches over Shane Cotter, Daisy Kershaw and Joe Le Page. Jenny Powell chipped in with important wins over Le Page and Kershaw. The pairing of Guilbert and Powell then won the crucial doubles over Le Page and Cotter in straight games.
