Senior British League Round 3 Preview

Post date: Oct 12, 2018 2:21:39 PM

The first clash of the weekend will see them compete against the only team they have yet to compete against, Kingfisher I, who are in 9th position. Their highest ranked player is Daniel Basterfield, however he has only played 4 singles matches so far this campaign. It also contains the classy veteran defender David Barr and the unorthodox but highly effective style of Daniel Moses.

The other matches come against Horsham Blades I, Drumchapel Glasgow II and BATTS II.

The Sarnians had their best results of the season against the latter 2 sides and managed to earn their solitary point of the season during a 4-4 draw with the BATTS side. They were also only narrowly edged out 5-3 by the Scottish based Drumchapel side.

The second team will also be returning to action this weekend to compete in National C-6 and this will be the second weekend of action for them. The team is unchanged and is made up of Paul Hainsworth, Daniel Collenette, Ryan Bichard and Matthew Casey.

Currently sitting level at the top of the Division after 4 wins in the opening weekend, they have a tough weekend of fixtures including a top of the table clash against the other side with a 100% winning record, Joola Plymouth III.

There will be no time to find their feet as the crunch clash is the opener of a very tough Saturday which also sees them compete against 3rd placed side Horsham Spinners II.

Sunday starts with a tie against the side at the bottom of the table, Haywards Heath II and culminates with a match against 6th placed side Forresters III, whom an entertaining 5-4 victory was obtained against in the opening match of the season.

Ravenscroft Senior British National League Weekend 3 Preview 2018/19 Season

Action is coming thick and fast for the Island’s leading table tennis players as the next round of action in the Senior British League is

taking place this weekend. Just 2 weekends prior the leading Ravenscroft-backed Island side travelled to compete in in the Championship Division and the 3rd round of fixtures will take place in Northamptonshire this weekend.

With CI number 1 Garry Dodd still unavailable for action, former Green trophy and Islands Games competitor Alex Robinson will join the usual team comprising of Joshua Stacey, Lawrence Stacey and Ben Foss and he will occupy the number 4 spot.

The season has been extremely tough for the team thus far, in a Division where the standard is extremely high and where the majority of players are top 50 standard in England. Despite this fact, the players have managed to pick up some fine scalps

along the way and continue to improve from their experiences.
