Shaun Mosley and Ben Foote were the 2019 winners of the Lions Novelty Doubles tournament, narrowing defeating Josh Stacey and Dawn Taylor in the final.

With a decent entry of players across the range of the GTTA leagues, the event produced some interesting match-ups. Group A was particularly hard-fought, featuring both pairs that eventually contested the final and 12 of the first 17 games played were won on deuce, proving that the doubles partners well balanced.  Group C was also very close, with the experience of Steve Potter / Rosemary Powell and Ian Fitchet / Lionel Jones combinations scraping through on count-back ahead of the young pairing of Ryan Gilson and Erin Vaudin.

Potter was a late stand-in and combined well with Powell to reach the semi-final, losing out to Josh Stacey and Taylor in 4 games. In the other semi final, Mosley and Foote beat Lawrence Stacey and Val Le Messurier 10-12, 11-9, 14-12, 13-11.

The final was a similarly close affair but despite the powerful forehands from Stacey, it was the blocking and back of the court retrieval skills of the Ravenscroft Panthers pairing of Foote and Mosley that prevailed, 8-11, 11-9, 8-11, 11-13.
