Womens Veterans Singles

The top seeds, Dawn Morgan (pictured) and Kay Chivers progressed to the final with few issues. Morgan defeated Michelle Gilson for the loss of just 8 points and Chivers needed 5 games to get past Sam Kershaw.

Under 18 Mens Singles

2nd seed Joshua Stacey will meet 3rd seed Alex Robinson in the final.

The tournament included an excellent 1st round encounter between 2 members of the recent bronze medal winning British Primary Schools Championships team, namely Ben Foss and Luke Bichard. The underdog Bichard played exceptionally to overturn a 3-1 deficit to force a 7th and held a match point at 10-9 before going down by the narrowest of margins, 13-11.

Stacey's closest match came at the Quarter Final stage where he needed the full 7 games to get past Sam King. In the semis he ended the run of 4th seed Joshua Butler in straight sets, however all of the legs were hard fought.

Robinson on the other hand a much smoother route to the semis after he dispatched Foss in straight games. His semi final encounter was against the top seed Lawrence Stacey and he soon found himself 2-0 in arrears. Parity was restored at 2-2 before Stacey again opened up a single game advantage. Robinson looked the more likely when he clinched the 6th, however he found himself staring down the barrel after losing the first 4 points of the decider. Stacey was unrelenting and led throughout the decider up until 9-6. An uncharacteristic fault service at 9-6 by the top seed proved pivotal as Robinson sensed his chance and pounced to win the proceeding 4 points to edge it 11-9.

Under 18 Womens Singles

The top 2 seeds in the form of Chloe Le Tissier and Cleo Rosumek expectedly made their way to the final.

Le Tissier dropped the 2nd leg in deuce to Daisy Kershaw, however she had too much ammunition and won in 5. Rosumek was more clinical in her semi final against Naomi Priest whom she outgunned in straight games.
