Final League Table

Week 12 - 18th August

League Table | Results

Hi Everyone

Tonight we had 36 players, 9 tables of four.

Keith and I would just like to thank everyone again for their support and appreciation and for helping us through the Summer League, we look forward to doing it all over again in 2022.

We would like to congratulate Lawrence Stacey on winning with 80 points, four more than his brother Josh achieved last year.  Unfortunately Lawrence couldn’t be with us tonight due to a bad reaction to his Covid injection.  Runner up with 73 points was Josh Stacey.  If you look at the results you can see how close it was after that.

We would like to thank Oscar Pearson for taking the trouble to talk to us and to put table tennis out on the radio, thanks Oscar.

Lastly but not forgotten we would very much like to thank Ben Foote our IT man and Secretary for doing a brilliant job of putting all the results and reports on the internet.

We wish Will & Rachel all the best for the future.  They have been here for the Summer and Will has been playing his heart out and supporting us.  Hopefully we might see them again next year.  Don’t forget to buy your lotto tickets before you leave!

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Josh Stacey. 2 Nye Matthew. 3 Will Wood. 4 Shaun Mosley. 5 Steve Martin. 6 Mike Brehaut. 7 Henri Whitehorne. 8 Brian Le Cras. 9 Seb Jennings.

Until next year

Never give up!!

Week 11 - 11th August

League Table | Results

Hi Everyone

Tonight we had 39 players, 9 tables of four and 1 table of three.

Well we only have one more week left so it would be lovely to see you all again for the finale.  I think we can safely say by 99.9% that we have a winner but I wouldn’t like to predict who the runner up will be.

Table 1 Lawrence Stacey finished with not too much difficulty, with Andy Gill coming second.  I think Chas and myself will have to wait until next year to prove ourselves on table 1!!!!!   Table 2 Josh Stacey finished top and could still be a contender for runner up.  Steve Ozanne finished second by playing a very good game against Jez Powell and winning 12-10 in the final game.  Oscar Pearson also played very well and beat Steve Ozanne in straight games, table tennis is a funny game.

Table 3 Two matches went to 5 games and three matches went to 4 games, consequently they were the last table to finish.  Ben Foote was desperate to beat Andy Ferbrache for the first time but lost 11-13 in the fourth, never mind Ben you will get him in the winter league.  Nye Matthew also lost to Andy 9-11 in the 5th game therefore Andy finished top with Nye in second place.  Shaun Mosley also played very well with some close matches.

Table 4 Terry Trustum was buzzing finishing first with Keith Opie in second place.  Table 5 Will Wood proved to be too strong for his opponents obviously no cockerels around this week, but Maurice James put on a good fight.  Table 6 Peter Vivien played well and seems to be getting his game back to form taking out Ken Falla 11-8 in the 5th game to finish top and Ken in second place.

Table 7 Shelby Timms finished up with 9 points, one of our contenders for runner up which all depends on results next week.  Table 8 Mick Ingrouille and Derek Carter had another ding dong match with Derek winning 11-8 in the 5th match.  Derek also had a tough match against young Connor Powell but also won that 11-9 in the 5th.

Table 9 Henri Whitehorne finished first, also another contender for runner up, beating Brian Le Cras, Helen Barker and young Olly Sparks.

Finally table 10 which was a table of 3 and they played best of 7 games.  Young Albie Lihou came first above Rachel Sharp and Sabato Folmi.

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Lawrence Stacey. 2 Josh Stacey. 3 Andy Ferbrache. 4 Terry Trustum. 5 Will Wood. 6 Peter Vivien.

7 Shelby Timms. 8 Derek Carter. 9 Henri Whitehorne. 10 Albie Lihou.

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Never give up!!

Week 10 - 4th August

League Table | Results

Hi Everyone

Tonight we had 37 players, 8 tables of four and 1 table of five.

Unfortunately only 2 more weeks left of SUMMER league and I have to say unless Lawrence Stacey has a bad fall he is looking pretty good for top spot, but runner up I wouldn’t like to predict at present it could be out of 5-6 people.  So make sure you all come over the next 2 weeks and give it your all.

Table 1 Lawrence Stacey finished top, over-powering Jez Powell, Craig Dunning and Will Wood.  This was Will’s first experience on table one and he scored nil points.  But in his defence apparently he had been woken up by a cockerel bird at 4.30am plus it was his BIRTHDAY!!!!

Table 2 was a bit of a surprise as Kay Chivers (me) finished top, a first with Andy Gill coming second, but a very tough game with Andy and I sneaked it 11-9 in the fifth, not sure who was the hottest at the end, him or me!  As for Keith Opie and Andy Ferbrache they admitted it was a bad day at the office.

Table 3 Chas Elliott finished top for the second week following with a very impressive win over Steve Ozanne, 13-11 in the final game.

Table 4 Apparently Ben Foote (the umpire), Mo James (the chopper), Oscar Pearson (the tinkerer) and Peter Vivian (the veteran).  Perhaps Oscar should be the thinker rather than the tinkerer, he played very well winning his table but just lost to the chopper 11-9 in the 5th game, well done Oscar.  Second place was between the umpire and the chopper and obviously the umpire wasn’t taking any nonsense, you will get him next time Mo.

Table 5 Great games.  Mick Ingrouille lost out to Shane Cotter in the fifth.  Ken Falla beat Shaun Mosley in the fifth and Shaun Mosley beat Shane Cotter in the fifth, both finishing on the same points which meant Shaun finished first.

Table 6 A very good game between Steve Martin and Shelby Timms but the experience of Steve just gave him the edge and he won 11-9 in the fifth.  Also another good game between Steve and Juliette Yeaman with Steve scrapping through once again 12-10 in the fifth.

Table 7 Two matches went to 5 games and all the others to 4 games, between Mark Windsor, Henri Whitehorne, Derek Cave and Brian Le Cras.  Derek and Mark both finished on 8 points but Derek beat Mark 11-7 in the fifth so finished in first place.

Table 8 Was Helen Barker, Mick Solway, Frank Coppolo and Keith de Carteret.  Helen Mick and Frank all finished on 7 points so then it went to countback and finished up with Frank first and Mick second.

Finally on table 9 young Seb Jennings came out on top with another new junior Albie Lihou finishing second.  Isn’t it great to see some of the youngsters playing as well as the oldies.

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Lawrence Stacey. 2 Kay Chivers. 3 Chas Elliott. 4 Oscar Pearson. 5 Shaun Mosley. 6 Steve Martin.

7 Derek Cave. 8 Frank Coppolo. 9 Seb Jennings.

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Never give up!!

Week 9 - 28th July

League Table | Results

Hi Everyone

Tonight we had 42 players, 8 tables of four and 2 tables of five.  We still have Lawrence Stacey top and Shelby Timms in second spot followed closely by Will Wood and Joshua Stacey.

Table 1 Lawrence Stacey finished top again but there were some good matches between Steve Ozanne, Oscar Pearson and Andy Ferbrache who all finished with 6 points but Oscar finished second on count back.  Table 2 Will Wood must have been playing very well to beat Jez Powell 11-9 in the 5th match therefore giving him a spot on table 1 next week, well done Will.

Table 3 Craig Dunning performed well once again so will also be back to table 1 next week.  Table 4 Keith Opie actually played well this week and finished top. Ian Fitchet and Paula Le Ber finished on the same points but Fitch came second on count back.

Table 5 Chas Elliott was back on form with Ben Foote finishing in second place.  Table 6 Maurice James made up for his performance from the previous week by taking out Mick Ingrouille, Mick Solway and Jonah Ingrouille.  Table 7 Shane Cotter won his table but there was a ding dong match between him and Juliette Yeaman, Juliette just missing out 11-7 in the final game which meant she finished in third place below Richard Edwards on count back.

Table 8 The young Connor Powell finished top but had a hard match against Brian Le Cras who lost in the final game 12-14.  Also Mark Windsor against Tia Timms with Mark winning 13 -11 in the final game which put him in second place.  Table 9 Henri Whitehorne had a good evening once again with Helen Barker finishing in second place.  Finally on table 10 young Cameron Powell came out on top with Cheryl Wingrave finishing second having been beaten by Cameron in the final game.

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Lawrence Stacey. 2 Josh Stacey. 3 Craig Dunning. 4 Keith Opie. 5 Chas Elliott. 6 Maurice James.

7 Shane Cotter. 8 Connor Powell. 9 Henri Whitehorne. 10 Cameron Powell

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Week 8 - 21st July

League Table | Results

Hi Everyone

Tonight we had 33 players, 7 tables of four and 1 table of five.  I think due to the hot weather this is the fewest players we have had so far, hopefully pick up again for next week.  We still have Lawrence Stacey and Shelby Timms joint top with Will Wood chasing.

Table 1 Lawrence Stacey finished top and Craig just missing out to Josh for second place.  Table 2 Steve Ozanne finished top.  There was a very good match between Andy Ferbrache and Nye Matthew with Andy winning 12-10 in the final match.  Table 3 Oscar Pearson showed how much he is improving by beating Chas Elliott and Terry Trustum but hasn’t quite got to grips with Shane Cotter yet!!!

Table 4 Will Wood is still fighting hard and finished first taking out the young Connor Powell in the final match.  Table 5 Steve Martin had a very good night, beating Henri Whitehorne, Tia Timms and Ian Fitchet and will be up to table 3 next week, well done Steve. Table 6 Shelby Timms came through managing to beat the experienced Brian Le Cras, Derek Cave and Frank Coppolo.

Table 7 was won by Derek Carter who I think had a glint in his eye when he beat Mick Ingrouille, table 5 next week Derek, heading for the top table. Finally on table 8 Mick Solway won again but had a close game with Sabato Folmi beating him 15-13 in the first game so will be on table 6 next week.

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Lawrence Stacey. 2 Steve Ozanne . 3 Oscar Pearson. 4 Will Wood. 5 Steve Martin.

6 Shelby Timms 7 Derek Carter. 8 Mick Solway.

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Week 7 - 14th July

League Table | Results

Hi Everyone

Tonight we had 43 players, 10 tables of four and 1 table of three.

It is getting very exciting now as we have Jez Powell overall in first position with 48 points, followed by Lawrence Stacey & Shelby Timms with 44 points, then Will Wood and Joshua Stacey on 40 points so anything could happen over the remaining 5 weeks.

Table 1 We had our up and coming Oscar Pearson , this is the first time I believe that Oscar has reached this point and did extremely well by taking a game off Lawrence Stacey Josh beat Lawrence therefore finished top.  Table 2 Jez Powell finished on top with Kay Chivers in second place but had to overcome a hard match over Nye Matthew winning in the 5th game.

Table 3 Craig Dunning proved himself by beating Will Wood, Chas Elliott and Andy Ferbrache.  There was a ding dong match between Will and Andy with Andy winning 16-14 in the 5th which gave him second position. Table 4 Steve Ozanne proved too strong for his opponents, with Shane Cotter finishing second. Table 5 Richard Edwards had a very good night beating Maurice James 12-10 in the 5th and Ben Foote in four who finished in second place.

Table 6 We had Juliette Yeaman, Connor Powell, Henri Whitehorne and Ken Falla obviously all very well matched, two matches went to 5 and the rest to 4.  It finished up with Connor, Ken and Henri all on 7 points but on count back the winner was Connor, followed by Henri and then Ken and Juliette.   But well done to you all some excellent games.

Table 7 Steve Martin played very well to finish on top but had two hard games against Derek Cave and Ian Fitchet just coming through in the 5th game. Table 8 Shelby Timms did well to win her table and along the way also defeated the awkward difficult player of Mick Ingrouille who finished second. Table 9 Derek Carter finished first and Lynn Finn who hasn’t been able to play until now finished in second place, nice to see you back Lynn.

Table 10 Dave Finn finished first, lovely to see you return also and Helen Barker did very well in coming second and also took the experienced Dave to five games just losing it 11-9 in the final game. Finally on table 11 we had Mick Solway, Sandra Sebire and Jacqui Crispini with Mick finishing on top but a hard match between Sandra and Jacqui with Sandra winning 16-14 in the final game.

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Josh Stacey. 2 Jez Powell . 3 Craig Dunning. 4 Steve Ozanne. 5 Richard Edwards. 6 Connor Powell. 7 Steve Martin. 8 Shelby Timms. 9 Derek Carter. 10 Dave Finn. 11 Mick Solway.

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Week 6 - 7th July

League Table | Results

Hi Everyone

We are already half way through the summer league, not sure if we have had any summer yet!!

Tonight it was decided that we cancel the summer league due to England playing in the Semi-final of the European Cup. We felt that many players would be missing and that it would have spoilt the league.

However, a number of people did turn up and wanted to play, a total of 19 players so we decided to have a fun competition and the winner on each table would receive a new 3 star table tennis ball.

We had 5 tables of 3 who played best of 7 games and 1 table of 4 who played best of 5 games.

Table 1 - Craig Dunning, Andy Ferbrache and Steve Ozanne, Steve was the winner.

Table 2 – Terry Trustum, Chas Elliott and Maurice James, Chas was the winner.

Table 3 – Shelby Timms, Mick Ingrouille and Derek Carter, Shelby was the winner.

Table 4 – Connor Powell, Henri Whitehorne, Brian Le Cras and Keith De Carteret, Henri was the winner.

Table 5 – Peter Jennings, Seb Jennings and Olly Sparks, Seb Jennings was the winner.

Table 6 – Marion Carre, Sandra Sebire and Sabato Folmi, Sabato was the winner.

Well done to everyone who took part.  Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Never give up!!

Week 5 - 30th June

League Table  |  Results

Hi Everyone

Tonight we had 42 players, 8 tables of four and 2 tables of five.

Nye Matthew who has been improving found himself on table 1 and also managed to win 3 games.  Table 2 Andy Ferbrache gave Andy Gill a super game and just lost out 12-14 in the 5th.  Table 3 A tough evening for Keith Opie who lost two of his matches on deuce in the final game against Paula Le Ber and Oscar Pearson and lost to Mo James in 4 and two of those were on deuce.

Table 4 Terry Trustum seems to be improving with age, though young Shelby Timms pressured him and only lost in the 5th game.  Shelby also did very well to beat the experienced Ken Falla in 5 games, keep up the practise Shelby, definitely paying off.  Table 5 Will Wood seems to be enjoying his table tennis whilst in Guernsey and did very well to beat Ben Foote 11-9 in the fifth game, obviously giving him too much practise Ben!

Table 6 Juliette Yeaman had two good matches against Richard Edwards and Shane Cotter but didn’t give it quite enough and was unlucky.  Table 7 Mark Windsor and Connor Powell had a ding dong match but the experience of Mark pulled him through and he won 11-9 in the final game.  Table 8 Brian Le Cras and Derek Cave both ended up with 7 points but Derek pipped Brian in the final game so finished in second place.

Table 9 We had Jenny Powell and her son Cameron both finishing up with 8 points each but Cameron beat his Mum convincingly 6-11, 11-8, 11-4, well done Cameron keep up the good work.  Finally on table 10 we had a mixture of games, a good one between Cheryl Wingrave and Sandra Sebire but Cheryl just won 11-8 in the final game, unlucky Sandra next time!!!

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Lawrence Stacey. 2 Josh Stacey . 3 Oscar Pearson. 4 Terry Trustum. 5 Will Wood.

6 Shane Cotter. 7 Mark Windsor. 8 Henri Whitehorne. 9 Cameron Powell. 10 Cheryl Wingrave.

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Week 4 - 23rd June

League Table  |  Results

Hi Everyone

Tonight we had 39 players, 6 tables of four and 3 tables of five.

On Table 1 - the Stacey twins battled it out again and Lawrence came out on top, come on Josh pull your socks up it should at least have gone to 5 games.

Table 2 - Jez Powell proved himself again, but Nye Matthew is improving every week and took a game off Jez and finished in second place.

Table 3 - it seems that Craig Dunning has come alive again and only lost to Andy Gill in the 5th game, though Andy did tell me that he had been isolating so we will need to keep an eye on him next week.  Well done Craig.

Table 4 - There were some very good matches between Oscar Pearson and Andy Ferbrache with Oscar just losing out 6-11 in the fifth so has obviously improved a great deal.  Also the match between Keith Opie and Ben Foote, with Ben just losing it 9-11 in the fifth game, also another player to watch.

Table 5 - Also had another 2 matches going to five games between Maurice James and Ken Falla, Maurice just sneaking it 13-11 in final game.  Also Ken Falla and Ian Fitchet with Ken on the winning side this time, these oldies they just keep going!!!

Table 6 – Shelby Timms had a good evening, one of our up and coming girls and will be moving up to table 4 next week, well done Shelby we will soon get you on table 1.

Table 7 - We had the young Connor Powell also improving and very keen who beat Mick Ingrouille which isn’t easy so well done Connor keep practising, it will pay off in time.

Table 8 – Tia Timms played well winning all of her matches and in second place we had one of our new players Mick Solway who finished second.

Table 9 – Tim Grosvenor one all of his matches so next week will move up to table 7.  Seb Jennings one of our very young juniors came second which was lovely to see, keep practising Seb.

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Lawrence Stacey. 2 Jez Powell .3 Craig Dunning. 4 Andy Ferbrache. 5 Maurice James.

6 Shelby Timms. 7 Mick Ingrouille. 8 Tia Timms. 9 Tim Grosvenor

Week 3 - 16th June

League Table  |  Results

Hi Everyone

Tonight we had 44 players, 11 tables of four.  There seem to have been some very good matches this week and close games.

On table 1 Ben Sharp played extremely well to take a game off Lawrence Stacey and is proving to be a very good player.  Table 2 Josh Stacey came out on top winning all of his matches but Dawn Morgan took a game off him so watch out boys, they are after you!

Table 3 we had a ding dong match between Chas Elliott and Andy Ferbrache with Chas coming through 12-10 in the final game. Table 4 we had the veterans playing, Mo James, Shaun Mosley, Keith Opie and Terry Trustum, was the evening ever going to finish?!  To be honest some very good games, all but one being played out to 4 or 5 but Terry Trustum dug his heels in coming out on top of Shaun Mosley winning 11-7 in the fifth game.

Table 5 we had Will Wood on top beating Oscar Pearson in the fifth game, a bit of a dark horse I think and Oscar in second place.  Nice to see you back Oscar, we have missed you. Table 6 Ben Foote and Juliette Yeaman finished on the same amount of points but Ben came first as he beat Juliette, unlucky Jum, your turn next week.

Table 7 Brandon Ferbrache proved to be too much for his opponents winning all of his matches with Steve Martin finishing in second place.

Table 8 Senior Veteran Derek Carter proved to be too much for his younger opponents and must have played extremely well to beat Shane Cotter 12-10 in the fifth game, proving that table tennis is a great game for any age group.

Table 9 Brian Le Cras showed what he is made of winning his table by beating young Tia Timms. Table 10 we had two of our younger players Seb Jennings and Morgan Mountford which is nice to see.  Unfortunately they were up against the experienced Helen Barker, but keep practising lads it will be your turn soon.

Finally on table 11 was Tim Grosvenor, Sandra Sebire, Sabato Folmi and Matt Hale.   Matt didn’t get any points this week but it is great that he comes and keeps on trying.  It isn’t always the winning that is important but the taking part.

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Lawrence Stacey. 2 Josh Stacey . 3 Steve Ozanne. 4 Terry Trustum. 5 Will Wood. 6 Ben Foote. 7 Brandon Ferbrache. 8 Derek Carter. 9 Brian Le Cras. 10 Helen Barker. 11 Tim Grosvenor

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Hi Everyone

This being only the second week not too much to report as we have quite a few people on the same points.  But Jez Powell at the moment has taken first spot by one point.

Lawrence and Josh Stacey were with us this week and I think plan to stay so everyone will have their work cut out to try and knock one of them off as I am sure they are determined to get their hands on the trophy once again.  Ben Sharp one of our future youngsters did very well this week and next week will be on table 1, which is what we like to see.

We also welcome some newish players to our summer league which is wonderful, Mick Solway, Sandra Sebire, Jacqui Butcher, Rachel Sharp and Will Wood who is in Guernsey for the summer.
