1
Lions A condemned Specsavers to their
15th straight defeat of the season via an emphatic 8-2 victory. Paul Hainsworth
and Liam Robilliard each won their 3 singles encounters against Mark Fallaize,
Neil Hastie and Jeremy Tan and they also teamed up to defeat Hastie and
Fallaize in a 4 game doubles victory. 2nd division reserve Tim Le Page chipped
in with a straight game victory over Tan, however he was defeated by both
Hastie and Fallaize, which prevented the whitewash. Whistlers A were held to a
5-5 stalemate by their B side. Jez Powell was the star performer for the B
side, winning all 3 of his singles encounters over Mark Pipet, Phil Hunkin and
reserve Lawrence Stacey. Martin Sarre added victories over Hunkin and Stacey to
earn the draw. For the A side, Pipet defeated both Sarre and reserve Josh
Stacey, Hunkin defeated Stacey in 5 games and Lawrence Stacey defeated twin
Josh in straight games. Pipet and Hunkin vitally teamed up to dispatch Powell
and Sarre in a straight games doubles victory.
Division 2
Whistlers C were again in dominant form,
whitewashing Panthers B 10-0. Kay Chivers, Keith Opie and Josh Stacey each
defeated Andy Langlois, Rob Vile and 3rd division reserve Peter Vivian. The
usual pairing of Chivers and Opie teamed up to defeat Langlois and Vile in a 4
games doubles victory.
Division 3
Whistlers K are the new leaders of the
tight 3rd division following a pivotal 6-4 victory over previous leaders St
Pauls B. Alex Robinson was on excellent form for the victors, defeating Brian
Le Cras, John Wills and Derek Carter. He was backed up well by Elizabeth
Priest, who defeated Le Cras and Carter. Sam Edwards was also on hand to add a
vital 4 game victory over Le Cras to secure the points. The victory sees
Whistlers K top the league by a single point ahead of St Pauls B. Lions H and
Panthers C are only a further point behind, following Panthers' 8-2 victory
over the former.
Division 4
Whistlers M's lead at the top of the 4th
division was cut to just 2 points, following a surprise 6-4 defeat at the hands
of 6th placed side Whistlers O. Sam King was the undoubted inspiration behind
the victory as he defeated James Rabey, Dave Herquin and Ben Rolph. Sam Totty
also had a good match, defeating Herquin and Rolph. The youngsters teamed up to
win the vital doubles encounter over Rabey and Rolph in straight games.
