Senior League Report 28/01/2010

Division 1

Cenkos Panthers A continued on their relentless surge towards their 1st league title with a commanding 10-0 whitewash of Specsavers. Olly Langlois, Adam Langlois and Matt Stubbington, were each relatively untroubled in their victories over Mark Fallaize, Neil Hastie and Jeremy Tan, dropping just 4 legs in the process. Olly Langlois and Stubbington teamed up to defeat Tan and Hastie in a straight games doubles victory. Lions A continue to pursue the league leaders after fighting out a tough 7-3 victory over Whistlers A. Phil Ogier was on good form for the Lions side, defeating Mark Pipet, Phil Hunkin and Martyn Gaudion without dropping a leg. Paul Hainsworth added victories over Hunkin and Gaudion and Liam Robilliard defeated Pipet and Gaudion to secure the points. Hainsworth and Ogier were pegged back in the 5th game of the doubles encounter by Gaudion and Hunkin, who emerged victorious 11-9 to soften the defeat.

Division 2

Whistlers C are still well on course towards the 2nd division title following a comprehensive 9-1 victory over 2-man Lions C. Kay Chivers and Keith Opie each defeated Ken Tucknott and reserve Mickey Lucas. They also teamed up to defeat the Lions pair in a straight games doubles triumph. Joshua Stacey defeated Lucas in 4 games, however he was edged by Tucknott in the 5th and final game, this proving to be an excellent scalp for Tucknott and also prevented the whitewash.

Division 3

St Pauls B confirmed their status as the leaders of the 3rd division following a 7-3 victory over Whistlers F. Derek Carter was the form player for the victorious side, defeating Andrew Lihou, Rob Lihou and reserve Tim Doughty. Brian Le Cras added victories over Andrew Lihou and Doughty and Connor Gaudion also chipped in with a straight games victory over Doughty. Carter and Doughty lengthened the margin of defeat by teaming up to defeat Andrew and Rob Lihou in a comfortable straight games doubles victory. Lions H lost ground on the leaders as they fell to their 3rd successive draw of the campaign, this time held by Whistlers J.

Division 4

Whistlers M remain at the top of the 4th division following a 7-3 victory over Panthers D. James Rabey was the form player for the Whistlers', defeating Stefan Sayer, Ed Blewett and Andre De Carteret. Dave Herquin and Ben Rolph each added 2 victories, over De Carteret and Blewett to secure the win. Sayer and Blewett did team up to defeat Rabey and Rolph in a closely contested straight games doubles victory, with all games being won in deuce.
