Summer League

Week 11 - 14th August 2019

Hi Everyone

We had 38 players tonight, 7 tables of 4 and 2 tables of 5.

Hard to believe that we only have one week left to go and it will be very close as to who wins.

On table 1 we had another surprise tonight with Chas Elliott beating Lawrence Stacey 11-9 in the 5thgame.  This now makes it very exciting for the final week as Lawrence is leading his brother Josh by just  1 point. Joseph Bourgaize also played well losing to Josh 7-11 in the 5thgame.

On table 2 Jez Powell had a good evening wining all of his games.  Craig Dunning also did very well beating Ryan Gilson 11-8 in the 5th.

On table 3 Ellis Tomlin won all of his games but had to work very hard against Albert Unden who took him to 5 games.

On table 4 Andy Ferbrache played very well to finish top of his table with Keith Opie a very close second beating Andy 11-9 in the fifth game.

On table 5 Pete Vivian played very well to win all of his games, the practice is starting to pay off, make sure you turn up next week Pete.  Shaun Mosley came second beating the experienced Dave Finn and Derek Carter.

On table 6 Richard Edwards came top beating Oscar Pearson 12-14 in the fourth game which meant Richard finished with 9 points and Oscar 7 points.  Oscar is in 3rdplace overall, 5 points behind Lawrence. So he will need to win all of his games next week.

On table 7 Maurice James won all of his games with Juliette Yeaman getting her form back and finishing second.  Keep up the girl power Ju, in the process she also beat her brother Mick Ingrouille. Keep practicing Mick!!!

Table 8 we had 3 people finishing on 7 points, Brian Le Cras, Mike Breahaut and Richard Frankham but on count back Mike came first followed by Brian and then Richard.

Finally on table 9 Helen Barker played well winning all of her games so will be on table 7 next week. Sabato Folmi played well ending up with 6 points and finishing second.

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Josh Stacey. 2 Jez Powell. 3 Ellis Tomlin. 4 Andy Ferbrache. 5 Peter Vivian. 6 Richard Edwards

7 Maurice James. 8 Mike Brehaut. 9 Helen Barker.

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Hi Everyone

We had 41 players tonight, 9 tables of 4 and 1 table of 5.

On table 1 we had a surprise tonight as for the first time this season Josh Stacey beat his brother Lawrence, so a tough battle going on between those two.
On table 2 Chas Elliott had another good evening wining all of his games including Ryan Gilson and Andy Gill.  Peter Vivian also did very well beating Ryan Gilson 12-10 in the 5th.

On table 3 Joseph Bourgaize played very well winning all of his games with a close contender in Kay Chivers coming second.
On table 4 Craig Dunning once again surpassed himself and finished top after being two games down against Mo James and then came back to win in the 5th.  Terry Trustum finished in second place.

On table 5 Ben Foote finished top with Keith Opie and Ken Falla battling it out again for second spot, Keith came out on top beating Ken 11-7 in the 5th game.  Juliette Yeaman had a tough evening but had consolation and a good result by beating Keith Opie 11-8 in the 5th game, keep practicing Ju.

On table 6 Steve Martin played well to win his table.  Derek Carter and James Crocker finished on the same amount of points but Derek beat James so finished up second.
On table 7 Dave Finn’s experience shone through and he won all of his games with Mike Brehaut and Shane Cotter also finishing on the same amount of points but Shane beat Mike so finished up second.

Table 8 we had Oscar Pearson who won all of his games, watch out Josh and Lawrence he could be a threat!!!!!  In second place was Rob Vile who had the chance to beat Oscar but I think saw the green light too early, keep practicing Rob.
On table 9 Brian Le Cras won with Mick Ingrouille in second place.  We also had a new player Richard Frankham introduced to us by Shaun Mosley and he won 3 games.  Hopefully Richard had a good time and will join us again.

Finally on table 10 Derek Cave was the winner with Tia Timms finishing second.

Table 1 Josh Stacey. 2 Chas Elliott. 3 Joseph Bourgaize. 4 Craig Dunning. 5 Ben Foote. 6 Steve Martin

Week 9 - 31st July 2019

Hi Everyone

We had 40 players tonight, 10 tables of 4. Lovely to see the numbers up to 40 again, with only 3 weeks left.

Again some very good games. As you will see from the points list Lawrence & Josh Stacey are now joint top so very exciting between those two.

On table 2 Albert exceeded himself by winning all of his games with Andy Ferbrache coming second, well done Albert.
On table 3 Steve Ozanne came out on top, obviously the baby is sleeping now!!!! There was a close call between Chas Elliott and Joseph Bourgaize both winning 6 games but alas Chas beat Joseph 3-1 putting himself in second place.

On table 4 this week we had Oscar Pearson who has worked very hard to get there but unfortunately it was a little too strong for him and he only won 1 game but had a very close encounter with Peter Vivian who won the table. Keep practicing Oscar. Shaun Mosley finishing a close second.
On table 5 Ian Fitchet overcame the furious attacking Terry Trustum to win the table, Steve Martin tried to do the same but lost to Trustum in the 5th.

On table 6 we had Maurice James on fine form again, obviously giving him much confidence for the Veteran 7 Nations trip to Perth, Scotland in September just 5 weeks away. Ben Foote came second beating Shane Cotter 11-8 in the fourth after some close games.
On table 7 it was nice to see Juliette Yeaman back with us and she won the table beating Derek Carter and Rob Vile but narrowly lost to our up and coming junior Jonah Ingrouille.

Table 8 we had young James Crocker coming first with Mike Brehaut and Brian Le Cras finishing on the same amount of games, but Mike beat Brian in the 4th game giving him second place.
On table 9 Shelby Timms came first but it was very close between Karen Blondel and Wendy Le Cras who would come second but Wendy beat Karen over 4 games giving her second place.
Finally on table 10 we had Helen Barker coming out on top with Sabato Folmi in second place. Matt Hale did well this week winning 3 games.

Week 8 - 24th July 2019

Hi Everyone

We had 33 players tonight, 7 tables of 4 and 1 table of 5.

We were very happy with the amount of players who turned up tonight especially with the weather being so hot, even Kay Chivers wasn’t complaining about the cold!!!!!  Again some very good games. As you will see from the points list Lawrence Stacey is still on top but has now increased his lead by 6 points.

On table 1 Lawrence Stacey was the winner but only because he beat his brother Josh 11-9 in the 5th game. Josh is 9 points behind but I know hasn’t given up.

Surprisingly on table 2 Kay Chivers came out on top; by beating Jez Powell 3 straight we think he had sun stroke. But Chas Elliott played well all evening and beat Kay 3-1, Nye 3-2 and lost to Jez Powell 3-0 but the first 2 games were 12-14 and 18-20 keep the Monday evening practice going Chas, definitely helping to improve your game.

Good games on table 3 with Albert Unden just losing out to Ellis Tomlin in the 5th. On table 4 Andy Ferbrache played Craig Dunning and this time beat him 11-8 in the 5th always exciting when they play each other. Andy also beat Steve Ozanne 11-8 in the 5th. Congratulations to Steve we hear he has just become a Dad, probably sleepless nights!!

On table 5 there were some very close games with Keith Opie finishing first and close behind Oscar Pearson. On table 6 Callum Gilson just lost out to Dave Finn which meant that Dave finished first and Callum 2nd just one point behind.  On table 7 Edward Rowe beat Shane Cotter which gave him first position and Shane second. Brian Le Cras narrowly lost to Val Guilbert in the 5th game.

Finally on table 8 Cheryl Wingrave had a battle against Max Burrows but beat him 14-12 in the final game which gave her first position and Max second. Well done to everyone who took part tonight.

Tonight’s winning tables are:
Table 1 Lawrence Stacey. 2 Kay Chivers. 3 Ellis Tomlin. 4 Andy Ferbrache. 5 Keith Opie. 6 Dave Finn. 7 Edward Rowe. 8 Cheryl Wingrave.

Only 4 more weeks left.
Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Never give up!!

Week 7 - 17th July 2019

Hi Everyone

We had 39 players tonight, 6 tables of 4 and 3 tables of 5.

Well done to everyone who turned up tonight we are already over halfway of the summer league, unbelievable.  It was lovely to see Josh and Lawrence back from Gibraltar and once again we congratulate them. Again some very good games, but unfortunately for some the positions have changed slightly and Derek Carter is now in third place taken over by Oscar Pearson, so I guess the fight is on Derek.   Lawrence Stacey is still in front by 5 points.

On table 1 there were some exciting matches with Ryan Gillson beating Joe Bourgaize 14-12 in the 5th.    But Joe Bourgaize and Craig Dunning also had a battle with Joe coming out on top 11-7 in the 5th.  Keep practicing Craig.

Table 4 also had some very long games between Pete Vivian, Steve Martin, Shaun Mosley and Nye Matthews 3 of which went to 5.  One thing that wasn’t surprising is they finished last!!!!  only joking lads keep up the good work.  On table 5 we had a ding dong match between Ian Fitchet and Terry Trustum with Fitch coming out on top 11-8 in the 5th.

I think on table 6 we can say that Maurice James is getting back into form winning all of his games tonight, the only real contender being Shane Cotter losing to Mo 13-11 in the fourth game. I hear that Oscar Pearson has improved since he first started and won all of his games tonight on table 7, he was strongly followed by Mick Ingrouille who only dropped one game.

On table 8 Lynn Finn came into form winning all of her games with James Crocker taking second place. Finally on table 9 Tia Timms played very well to win her table with a strong contender Cheryl Wingrave who finished in second place.

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Josh Stacey. 2 Lawrence Stacey. 3 Martin Sarre. 4 Nye Matthews. 5 Ian Fitchet.  6 Maurice James. 7 Oscar Pearson. 8 Lynn Finn. 9 Tia Timms.

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Never give up!!

Week 6 - 10th July 2019

Hi Everyone

We had 38 players tonight, 7 tables of 4 and 2 tables of 5.

This has been our least players so far, but was expected due to the Island Games taking place.  Whilst on the subject congratulation to our team in Gibraltar winning GOLD.

There were some very good games tonight.  Congratulations to Ryan Gilson winning on table one he seems to be getting better every week.  Also Ellis Tomlin and Joseph Bourgaize had an exciting 5 setter with Ellis winning 14-12 in the 5thgame but justice has been done and they both move up to table 1 so I expect another battle next week.  We also have another much improved player on our hands, Craig Dunning came top of his table above Keith Opie, Ben Sharp and Caden Brouard and for the second time finds himself on table 1. Congratulations Craig we are hoping for exciting results on table 1 next week.

On table 4 Andy Ferbrache came out on top but well done to Richard Edwards, although coming second beat Andy 11-7 in the 5thgame, obviously improving.

Ben Foote has done well and next week will be on table 3.  After being away from us for two weeks umpiring in Belarus.   We are very lucky in table tennis to have someone like Ben who is umpiring in many different countries at some prestigious events which must be very good for Guernsey table tennis, keep up the good work Ben.

Well done to Helen Barker who came top on table 9, lovely to see some new players who are very keen.  Lawrence Stacey is still top of the table but has Derek Carter only 3 points behind him and Joseph Bourgaize 2 points behind Derek so still very exciting, anything could happen.

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Ryan Gilson. 2 Ellis Tomlin. 3 Craig Dunning. 4 Andy Ferbrache. 5 Ben Foote.  6 Steve Martin. 7 Terry Trustum. 8 Derek Carter. 9 Helen Barker.

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Never give up!!

Week 5 - 3rd July 2019

Hi Everyone

Chas Elliott performed very well again this week and just lost out to Andy Gill 12-10 in the fifth, I put it down to hard training on a Monday evening.

We would like to welcome Shaun Torode back to table tennis who was an Island player and hasn’t played for about 20 years.  He had some very close games and hopefully will come back again.

Week 4 - 26th June 2019
Hi Everyone

This was our best week so far, so keep it up everyone. We had 51 players tonight, 9 tables of 4 and 3 tables of 5.

The battle between Josh and Lawrence Stacey still continues between tables 1 and 2, but the rest of us may have a small chance during the next 2-3 weeks as the twins head off to the Island Games in Gibraltar, good luck to everyone taking part.

Ben Foss and Dan Collenette on tables 2 and 3 came top which was probably expected but Ben Sharp did really well on table 4 beating Andy Gill and Ellis Tomlin to finish top. Chas Elliott did well on table 5 to beat young Caden Brouard, so come on Caden, revenge next week don’t let the oldies get to you.

We had a surprise on table 6 with Dave Finn finishing second above Keith Opie, what more can be said!!! Richard Edwards surpassed himself finishing second by beating Peter Vivian, never give up Pete. Maurice James on table 8 also did very well beating Ian Le Page and Ian Fitchet, obviously getting his form back with the new hip.

Jonah Ingrouille, Rob Vile, Max Burrows and Oscar Pearson also did well on their respective tables, so make sure you all come again next week.

Tonight’s winning tables are:Table 1 Lawrence Stacey. 2 Ben Foss. 3 Dan Collenette. 4 Ben Sharp. 5 Chas Elliott. 6 Ryan Wesley. 7 Nye Matthew. 8 Maurice James. 9 Jonah Ingrouille. 10 Rob Vile. 11 Max Burrows. 12 Oscar Pearson.

Another successful week with a good attendance.

We had 46 players tonight, 9 tables of 4 and two tables of 5.

We had some new players turning up this week which put the cat amongst the pigeons so to speak.  Albert Unden, Andy Ferbrache and Ryan Wesley, none of these players came to the first two summer leagues and all won their table, well done. I know that Albert was very excited as he will be on table 1 next week.

Shelby Timms won her table this week, so come on Shelby keep winning, we need some young girls to move up and knock the young boys out, and the old ones!!!

Our bionic friend Derek Carter has been doing well and I am positive will be planning on getting to table 4 or 5 next week, keep going Derek and give the youngsters a good fight.

Erin Vaudin also did well this week, so I am sure she will be trying very hard next week to move up to table 8.

Week 12 - 22nd August 2018

Hi Everyone

Tonight we had 40 players which meant we had 10 tables of 4.

Josh Stacey didn’t do so well on table 1 only winning 4 games whilst Lawrence on table 2 won 9 games therefore at the last post winning the summer league by 2 points so well done to Lawrence.

Dave Finn I am sure will be pleased to see that he came third with 68 points and Craig Dunning even after being on table 1 came joint 4th with Juliette Yeaman on 65 points.

Keith and Kay would like to thank everyone for taking part and supporting us for our second year; to keep the summer league going and to make it such a success.   We would also like to thank Fitch for his back up and also Len for preparing the booklets for us and is happy to do so for next year.

Week 11 - 15th August 2018
Hi Everyone

Tonight we had 41 players which meant we had 9 tables of 4 and 1 table 5.

Josh and Lawrence both won 7 games this week which means Josh is still 9 games ahead of his brother and very much in contention on winning the Summer League.  Garry Dodd game first on table 1 winning 9 games.

On table 2 we had Ben Foss who also won 9 games so will be on table 1 next week.  Unfortunately Kay Chivers played well and won 9 games so will be going back to table 1 (not her favourite place!!!).  On table 4 Craig Dunning and Steve Ozanne had a ding dong match with Steve coming out on top 11-9 in the 5th which means he finishes first and Craig second.

On table 5 we had Andy Ferbrache winning 9 games so will be on table 3 next week.  Ken Falla and Ben Foote both won 7 games but Ben was just pipped by Ken 11-8 in the 5th.  Ken told us that he had played his best table tennis this year but was still playing rubbish; sorry Ken but we don’t believe you, always a tough cookie to play.

On table 6 Pete Vivian won 9 games, well done Pete, I think there must have been football on tonight as Dave Finn only won 1 game, Shaun Mosley came second winning 8 games. On table 7 Nye Matthew shone winning 9 games but only just beating Steve Martin 13-11 in the 5th who won 8 games, good win Nye keep it up, too much relaxing in the sun Steve.

On table 8 we had a young Peter Powell winning 9 games, you just keep going Peter well done.  Mick Ingrouille came second winning 7 games but had a very good match against Peter, keep going Mick you will soon be catching us all up. On table 9 we had Oscar Pearson winning 9 games with Shane Cotter coming second winning 8 games.  Again a very good match between Oscar and Shane with Oscar coming out on top 13-11 in the 5th.

Finally table 10 which was a table of 5 and well done to Len Bretel and Shelby Timms both winning 7 games But Len beat Shelby 17-15 , 14-12 to take 1st spot, obviously improving Len just in time for the new season.

Just to remind you all; next week is the last Summer League for this year, Keith and Kay would like to thank everyone for turning up which means that it will continue in the future and we wish you all a good season 2018/19.

Hi Everyone

Tonight we had 47 players which meant we had 8 tables of 4 and 3 tables of 5.

We had two new players this week, Olly Crook (not really Crook but his proper surname would have taken too long to write) and the other player was Hayden Atkins.  Both said that they enjoyed themselves so hopefully we will see them back next week.

Lawrence Stacey won on table 1 and will be joined again next week by his brother Josh and also Garry Dodd whom we haven’t see much of as he has been taking a break and Ryan Gilson who won on table 3.  Keith Opie also did very well on table 3 finishing second after whizzing through Kay Chivers winning 3-0 and will be on table 2 next week.

Maurice James had a good time this week on table 5 winning all 9 games with Craig Dunning coming second.  Ken Falla and Brian Le Cras had a ding dong match on table 7 with Ken coming out on top 11-6 in the 5th game.  We must mention Len Bretel this week as he had 6 points, keep it up Len and “Never give up”.

We had another new player this week, Pete Dunbar who tells us that he had a good time which is good for our table tennis we look forward to seeing you again next week.

Josh lost this week to Lawrence deuce in the 5th so will be floating next week leaving his brother Lawrence on table one.
On table two we had Chas Elliott and Andy Gill coming out on top and Steve Ozanne from table three so can they beat Lawrence!!!!  Table one next week, watch this space.
Shaun Mosley did well this week and will now be on table 4, keep going Shaun.

Week 8 - 25th July 2018

Tonight we had 36 players which meant we had 9 tables of 4.

Josh Stacey retains his place on table 1 and seems determined to stay there, but next week will have to play his brother Lawrence.  Ian Fitchet did really well to win four games on table 1 but will be floating again next week.  Craig Dunning enjoyed his challenges on table 2 and took a game off Lawrence narrowly losing to him deuce in the fourth so sorry Craig, floating next week.

Keith Opie and Kay Chivers also had a battle on table 2 with Kay just coming out on top 16-14 in the 5th, back up to table 1 as punishment. Ken Falla did very well again tonight and finds himself on table 2 for next week and a little bird told us that he is going to try hard for table 1, looks like you have a battle on your hands Chas.

Julliette Yeaman has made it on to table 6, so come on Ju still time for you to reach table 2. Peter Powell did very well tonight after a few weeks rest winning table 7 as did wife Rosemary with a 3-1 victory over a young Ben Foote.

Tonight’s winning tables are:
Table 1 Josh Stacey, 2 Lawrence Stacey, 3 Ryan Gilson, 4 Ken Falla, 5 Peter Vivian, 6 Terry Trustum, 7 Peter Powell, 8 Juliette Yeaman, 9 Tia Timms.

Week 7 - 18th July 2018

Thank you to everyone who turned up, we think we are back to normal now after the Football World Cup and also Tennis at Wimbledon.
Tonight we had 40 players which meant we had 10 tables of 4.  We also had a visitor plus 3 new players, Tim Grovsnor, Miles Davies and Jure Alavanja hopefully they enjoyed it enough that they will join us all again next week.

Josh Stacey retains his place on table 1, surely somebody can knock him off!!!!  Andy Gill was back with us this week and came 1st on table 2 and Steve Ozanne came second so they will both go up to table 1 and on table 3 Ian Fitchet won so will also be on table 1, good luck Fitch.

Craig Dunning is determined to keep pressing on and is back up to table 2. We were pleased to see Derek Carter participating this week and did very well by winning his table with Steve Martin coming second who is desperate to get to table 1, keep on going Steve you might make it just in time.

Ken Falla played very well tonight but Rob Vile just couldn’t keep his previous standard up and will be floating again next week.
Dave Finn came top of his table, but little Jayden Tucknott played brilliantly to come second and was playing with a wonderful topspin to win his final game 11-9 in the fifth, so keep practicing Jayden and you could be the next Garry Dodd.

Rosemary Powell played very well on table 8 and overcame Oscar Pearson who we believe does play league but the first time we have seen him in the summer league, hope you will be back again next week Oscar. Len Bretel excelled himself this week by winning all of his games with a close contender in Robert Naftel, keep going Len you will soon be playing on the same side as the rest of your cronies.

Finally on table 10 Jure Alavanja won all of his games with Karen Blondel coming second so keep going Karen you are above half way and doing well.

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Josh Stacey, 2 Andy Gill, 3 Ian Fitchet, 4 Craig Dunning, 5 Derek Carter, 6 Ken Falla,
7 Dave Finn, 8 Rosemary Powell, 9 Len Bretel, 10 Jure Alavanja.

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Never give up!!
Keith and Kay

Week 6 - 11th July 2018

I’m afraid the summer league had to be cancelled.  Due to the football only 6 people turned up which was not a sufficient amount to run the league properly.  Therefore the positions will stay the same.

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Never give up!!
Keith and Kay

Week 5 - 4th July 2018

Tonight we had 36 players 1 more than the previous week but we think this has something to do with the hot weather and no wind, probably still out at the beach.  This meant that we had 9 tables of 4.

Josh has retained his place on table 1 beating brother Lawrence in a 5 setter.  Steve Ozanne and Craig Dunning did amazingly well.  Steve lost to Josh 3-0 but one game was 13-11.  Steve managed to beat Craig in 4 sets but all very close, we noticed Craig was smiling all evening not sure if it was a grimace smile or a happy one, we suspect the latter, good effort Craig!!!!

Corey Brouard did very well winning on table 3 so will be up to table 1 next week and Albert will be back on table 2. Peter Vivian did very well this week and won his table leaving Steve Martin confused.  Persevere with the rubbers Steve you will soon excel.

Caden Brouard won table 5 we guess he is chasing his brother Corey, keep going Caden you will catch him.  Juliette Yeaman didn’t quite make second place so will be a floater next week, keep practicing Ju we are waiting for you up on table 3.

Brandon Ferbrache won table 6 putting Brian Le Cras in second place, well done to you both working your way up in fine fashion. Table 7 must have been very exciting as we saw Shane Cotter, Mark Windsor and Jonah Ingrouille all on 8 points but it was Jonah who got first place on count back.

Robin Vile excelled himself this week on table 8 and had 9 points so will be delighted to know he will be on table 6 next week, Max Burrows was second with 6 points, well done Max. Jayden Tucknott did very well again on table 9 winning all of his games so will be on table 7 next week and Shelby came second with 7 points.

Tonight’s winning tables are:
Table 1 Josh Stacey. 2 Kay Chivers. 3 Corey Brouard. 4 Peter Vivian. 5 Caden Brouard.
6 Brandon Ferbrache. 7 Jonah Ingrouille. 8 Robin Vile. 9 Jayden Tucknott.

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Never give up!!

Week 4 - 27th June 2018

Tonight we had 35 players a little disappointing but I guess we can blame the World Cup.  This meant that we had 5 tables of 4 and 3 tables of 5.

Josh Stacey is doing well and is back on table 1, will his brother Lawrence knock him off next week?  They might well have a problem because I think for the first time Craig Dunning will be on table 1 and both Josh & Lawrence haven’t had the experience of playing Craig or his bat so watch this space!!!  We also have Steve Ozanne there so I think we are in for some thunder and lightning.

Unfortunately Steve Martin still didn’t quite find his peak again this week but he did come second again so will be moving up to table 4 which I am sure he will be pleased about. Juliette Yeaman did well this week winning 9 games and now moves up to table 5, let’s pray that England are not playing next Wednesday as I think Ju could do well.  Robert Naftel also did very well this week by winning 8 games and moves up to table 6 so keep practising Robert.

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Josh Stacey. 2 Lawrence Stacey. 3 Craig Dunning. 4 Terry Trustum. 5 Ken Falla.
6 Mike Ingrouille. 7 Juliette Yeaman. 8 Robert Naftel.

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Never give up!!

Week 3 - 20th June 2018
Tonight we had 39 players unfortunately 10 less than the previous week but I think this has something to do with the World Cup football.  This meant that we had tables of 4 and 3 tables of 5.

Well, as promised we were watching Mo James on table 1 and we have to say he played very well by winning 4 games and beating Ryan Bichard, one of our much younger players 11-6 in the 5th game, well done Mo.  Jayden Tucknott also did very well on table 9 winning all of his games so will be on table 7 next week, well done Jayden, keep going.  We believe Steve Martin got a little excited as he came second on his table with Nye Matthew beating him by one game, so we need to watch Steve next week to see if he can do better!!!

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Ben Foss. 2 Matthew Casey. 3 Ryan Gilson. 4 Albert Unden. 5 Joseph Bourgaize. 6 Nye Matthew.  7 Dave Finn. 8 Rob Vile. 9 Jayden Tucknott.

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Never give up!!
Keith and Kay

Week 2 - 13th June 2018

Well done to everyone who turned up tonight, we had 49 players one more than the previous week which meant we had 11 tables of 4 and 1 table of 5. Jonah Ingrouille played well tonight scoring 100% after a bad start the previous week.

Mo James is also doing well and lying in second place at present and will also be on table 1 next week.  We could be wrong but can’t remember Mo ever being on table 1 so could be a good one to watch, good luck Mo!!!!  Well done also to Karen Blondel coming first on her table, she tries so hard every week.  It was good to see Charlotte Casey playing and also Rob Vile who is usually stuck behind the bar, hope you continue to join in.

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Josh Stacey. 2 Lawrence Stacey. 3 Maurice James. 4 Keith Opie. 5 Shaun Mosley. 6 Juliette Yeaman.  7 Craig Dunning. 8 Caden Brouard. 9 Dave Finn. 10 Jonah Ingrouille. 11 Robin Vile. 12 Karen Blondel.

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

Never give up!!

Week 1 - 6th June 2018

A warm welcome to players for summer league 2018. Here we are again for the 12th Summer League and we don’t know where the time has gone. We had a slight hiccup tonight, I think Keith and myself are a little rusty but hopefully we will have the hang of it again, by next week. We had 48 players tonight, 12 tables of 4. It was lovely to see so many playing table tennis.

We may need to move Shaun Mosley and Brian Le Cras next week as we had forgotten to put them down so they were a little lower than they should have been and we need to get them back to where they belong, so hopefully everyone will understand.

Tonight’s winning tables are:

Table 1 Garry Dodd. 2 Ryan Gilson. 3 Albert Unden. 4 Corey Brouard. 5 Paula Le Ber. 6 Ken Falla. 7 Mike Brehaut. 8 Juliette Yeaman. 9 Amy Stone. 10 Shaun Mosley. 11 Max Burrows. 12 Jaydon Tucknott.

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time.

2017 Summer League

Week 12 - 23rd August
Hi Everyone

Well we have now finished the summer league, how time flies when having fun.

Tonight as usual it was very close right up to the very end.  After 12 weeks we had Josh Stacey with 85 points, Lawrence on 84 and then Sam Clark and Shane Cotter joint with 76 points.  But then we have to deduct the two lowest weeks from everyone who took part.  So the final positions for 1st , 2nd and 3rd was Lawrence with 84 points, followed by Josh with 81 points then Sam Clark and Ben Sharp coming joint 3rd, sorry lads nothing for 3rd spot but congratulations anyway.

Well done to Lawrence I guess it was your turn this year.  Hopefully if enough of you turn up especially Lawrence and Josh then we will do the presentation on Wednesday 30th August.

We had 42 players tonight 1 less than last week which we think was pretty good to say the North Show was taking place.  Tonight we had 8 tables of 4 and 2 tables of 5.

Tonight’s winning tables are:
Table 1 Josh Stacey. 2 Lawrence Stacey. 3 Albert Unden. 4 Terry Trustum. 5 Shaun Mosley. 6 Craig Dunning. 7 Shane Cotter. 8 Ben Sharp. 9 James Crocker. 10 Shelby Timms.

Thanks again to everyone for turning up and making the summer league fun.

Until next year!!!!!  Never give up and keep on smiling!!

Week 11 - 16th August
Hi Everyone

Only one more week of the summer league so hoping our last week will still bring you all along and we can go out with a bang.

Unfortunately the young Ian Fitchet didn’t do so well this week with only 1 point and has dropped down into joint 4th position with Chas Elliott on 68 points, Sam Clark back in 3rd place with 73 points and due to the absence of Lawrence this week Josh has now moved back into 1st place with 76 points with Lawrence only 1 point behind so the last week will be very exciting providing they both take part.

We had 43 players tonight 1 less than last week.  Tonight we had 7 tables of 4 and 3 tables of 5.

Tonight’s winning tables are:
Table 1 Josh Stacey. 2 Martin Sarre. 3 Andy Gill. 4 Steve Potter. 5 Maurice James. 6 Mark Fallaize. 7 Brandon Ferbrache. 8 Juliette Yeaman. 9 Callum Gilson. 10 Amy Stone.

Until next week, don’t be late 7.25 pm is the cut off time after that you won’t be able to play.

Never give up and keep on smiling!!

Well we are getting very close now to the end of the summer league, can’t believe how quickly it has passed.

We have a new joint second place now with the young Ian Fitchet on 67 points along with Josh Stacey, Lawrence has now extended his lead by 8 points.   The last 2 weeks should be very exciting, it will definitely be a fight against the young and the old, so keep going Fitch we all know you like a challenge.

We had 44 players tonight 4 more than last week so still going strong with a very good turn out.   Tonight we had 11 tables of 4.

Tonight’s winning tables are:
Table 1 Garry Dodd. 2 Andre De Carteret. 3 Joseph Bourgaize. 4 Sam Clark. 5 Peter Vivian. 6 Steve Potter. 7 Albert Unden. 8 Mick Ingrouille. 9 Max Burrows. 10 Jonah Ingrouille. 11 Steve Morris.

Week 9 - 2nd August
Hi Everyone

It is lovely to still see so many people turning up and enjoying the table tennis as well as the social aspect, the table in the bar has extended considerably.

The top 3 places haven’t changed from last week as Lawrence Stacey, Ben Sharp and Josh Stacey all had 9 points so Lawrence is still in first place with Ben Sharp in second place and Josh in third place just 2 points behind so still very exciting with only 3 weeks to go.  So keep going Ben you have a real challenge.

We had 40 players tonight which is 13 less than last week but still very good to say that school holidays are now in progress.  Tonight we had 10 tables of 4.

Tonight’s winning tables are:
Table 1 Lawrence Stacey. 2 Josh Stacey. 3 Jamie Ferbrache. 4 Terry Trustum. 5 Ben Foote. 6 Ken Falla. 7 Brandon Ferbrache. 8 Juliette Yeaman. 9 Ben Sharp. 10 Tia Timms.

Hi Everyone

We are now two thirds into our Summer League, doesn’t time fly when we are having fun.

Lawrence is still in first place, but now we have Ben Sharp who has moved into second place 2 points ahead of Josh so it is getting very exciting. At the lower end of the table we have Matt Hale with 8 points but not last, so keep going Matt and well done for turning up every week and
giving it your best shot, your enthusiasm is 100%.

We had 53 players tonight which is 2 more than last week which we think is very good to say so many are on holidays. Tonight we had 12 tables of 4 and 1 table of 5.

Tonight’s winning tables are:
Table 1 Lawrence Stacey. 2 Kay Chivers. 3 Sam Clark. 4 Ellis Tomlin. 5 Steve Martin. 6 Steve Potter 7 Dave Finn.

Week 7 - 19th July
Hi Everyone

Another week has passed us by. Well the league is going up and down like a yo yo so who knows who will win with only 5 weeks left to play.

Lawrence has managed to hold on to first place but brother Josh is close behind in second place only by 2 points and Ben Sharp only 1 point behind Josh, so if Ben plays well next week who knows he could move to first position, we will have to wait and see.

We had 51 players tonight which is 6 up on last week so it is great to see that so many are enjoying and supporting the summer league, we had 9 tables of 4 and 3 tables of 5.

Tonight’s winning tables are:
Table 1 Josh Stacey. 2 Martin Sarre. 3 Joseph Bourgaize. 4 Peter Vivian. 5 Sam Clark. 6 Keith Opie

Week 6 - 12th July
Hi Everyone

What has happened this week?

We had 45 players tonight which is only 2 down on last week and a few people on holiday so
we are still doing well, 10 tables of 4 and 1 table of 5.

Tonight’s winning tables are:
Table 1 Lawrence Stacey. 2 Josh Stacey. 3 Kay Chivers. 4 Chas Elliott. 5 Ian Fitchet. 6 Peter Powell.

ps
This is the last year I will be running the Summer league .
Any one who will be willing to take over would be able to use my set up ( we can teach them how it works)
or indeed create one of their own.
After 10 years I think someone else should take over.

1st June 2016

A warm welcome to players for summer league 2016.

Well here we go again for the 10th summer league that I've run, with the aid of Fitch.

We had 51 players tonight, 12 tables of 4 and 1 table of 3.
It's nice to see the juniors getting involved and mixing well in the tables.
Garry Dodd is having a rest this summer (so he says) and as a few more top seniors will be missing, it should be interesting
Steve Martin has started well with "a new bat" he tells me, winning table 7 with 9 points.

Tonight's winning players on tables 1 - 13 are,  1 Joshua Stacey. 2 Andre de Carteret. 3 Ian Fitchet.
4 Keith Opie. 5 Peter Vivian. 6 Ryan Gilson. 7 Steve Martin. 8 Corey Brouard. 9 Ellis Tomlin
10 Craig Donning. 11 Mark Windsor. 12 Jonah Ingrouille. 13 Hannah Bourgaize.

Just a few moans from players who think the handicap system needs looking at.
I use the GTTA's official handicap list which is used for the handicap tournaments.
So don't moan at me and Fitch - we didn't compile it!
This positions players accordingly on the tick list for the summer league, which works well.

Till next week

Never give up!

ps
I will be looking for a replacement for myself for next year (summer 2017) to run the summer league.
Anyone who will be willing to "have a go" would be able to use my set up ( we can teach them how it works)
or indeed create one of their own.
We have been lucky and have been able to avoid any sickness and kept it running every week for 12 weeks every year.
