Division 1 League leaders and defending champions Lions A maintained their 6 point advantage at the top following a comprehensive 9-1 victory over Panthers C. Phil Ogier and Liam Robilliard both defeated Paul Marshall, Jeremy Tan and Mark Fallaize. Hainsworth defeated Tan and Fallaize and combined with Robilliard to win the doubles encounter over Fallaize and Marshall in straight games. Marshall picked up the only Panthers success of the evening after edging out Hainsworth in 5 games. Whistlers B kept up the chase by recording a narrow 6-4 victory over Whistlers A. Mark Pipet was on form as he won all of his singles matches on the evening over Lawrence Stacey, Joshua Stacey and reserve Alex Robinson. He was aided by Phil Hunkin who beat Josh and Robinson. The experienced pair also teamed to win the important doubles encounter against the Stacey twins in 4 games to ensure the win was obtained. Division 2 Whistlers C still have their 100% winning record after posting a convincing 9-1 victory over Lions D. Kay Chivers and Alex Robinson were both unbeaten on the night after beating Sam Clark, Terry Trustum and Dave Finn. Keith Opie beat Clark and Finn, but he was beaten by Trustum. Chivers and Opie won the doubles match against Clark and Trustum in 4 games. Division 3 St Pauls B are looking extremely strong for the 3rd division title and they continued to steam roller the competition with a 10-0 whitewash of Whistlers H. Brian Le Cras, Connor Gaudion and strong reserve Bob Cherry were all undefeated, each getting the better of Becks O'Keefe, Keiran Kotecha and Matt Board. Le Cras and Gaudion defeated Kotecha and Board in a straight games doubles win. Division 4 Lions K continue to lead the way following a strong 8-2 win over Lions L. Val Guilbert and Chloe Le Tissier both defeated Val Le Messurier, Bert Enevoldsen and Rachel Vivian. They also teamed up to beat Enevoldsen and Vivian in a 4 game doubles triumph. Di Le Page added a win over Vivian, but she was defeated by Le Messurier and Enevoldsen, which spared the blushes. |
