GTTA Centre Hougue du Pommier, Castel, Guernsey ![]() ABOUT THE GTTA The Guernsey Table Tennis Association (G.T.T.A) formed in 1922 as the official governing body for table tennis in Guernsey Our premises are based at the Hougue du Pommier, Castel, alongside the Guernsey Bowls centre The G.T.T.A is a non profit making association The G.T.T.A is funded by player subscriptions, fundraising events, sponsors, donations and grants The management committee and sub-committees mainly consist of volunteers TABLE TENNIS IN GUERNSEY Guernsey has approximately 130 adult league table tennis players and approximately 100 juniors receiving regular coaching and playing in the junior or senior league. There are four clubs (Lions, St Pauls, Whistlers and Panthers). All clubs play at the Guernsey Table Tennis Centre at La Hougue du Pommier, Vale. An individual summer ladder league runs from June to August for GTTA members and visitors by special arrangement. The Island Championships are contested in April or May each year at the Guernsey Table Tennis Centre. Age categories range from Under 11's to Over 70's. Winners of their respective categories subsequently play their Jersey counterparts to compete in the Channel Islands Championships. Guernsey players usually compete in the World Championships, Commonwealth Games, Six Nations round robin tournaments (various age categories), the Island Games and British Schools events. Guernsey also field male and female teams in the British National League. For the socially inclined, the Social League runs on Tuesday evenings at the Guernsey Table Tennis Centre. This League is particularly suited to beginners and lower division players. Various tournaments are held frequently throughout the table tennis season. |
